The opening ceremony of the “Shusha – ECO Tourism Capital 2026” programme was held on 27 April in Azerbaijan's Shusha.

As part of the event, guests were presented with a concert programme featuring works by Azerbaijani composers, alongside various musical performances by soloists.

Delegations from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are participating in the events organised within the framework of “Shusha – ECO Tourism Capital 2026”.

Over the coming days, the programme will continue with the 9th Meeting of the High-Level Expert Group on Tourism of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Gastronomy Day, as well as the 7th Meeting of ECO Tourism Ministers.

It should be noted that Shusha was designated the “ECO Tourism Capital for 2026” during the 5th Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization held in 2023.

The events are being organised in accordance with the Action Plan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the designation of Shusha as the Tourism Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for 2026.
